The Vestibular Function Test: an audiological perspective to diagnosing and managing vestibular disorders
Daniel J Romero is an Assistant Professor and licensed audiologist for the Department of Hearing and Speech Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His primary research interests focus on the intersection of cortical-vestibular interactions and its impacts on dizziness and balance disorders. Thus far, his research efforts have led to multiple peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed publications with his recent work focused on utilizing EEG to further understand the relationship between the vestibular system and higher-level brain dynamics. In addition, Dr. Romero actively sees patients in the Balance Disorders Clinic at VUMC and has experience performing advanced vestibular assessment and interpretation. Dr. Romero serves in many capacities at the national level including multiple positions held for the American Academy of Audiology and American Balance Society. He also co-hosts a vestibular-focused podcast called a dose of dizzy.
